A 20 member tomato producing group from the Brong Ahafo region with membership drawn from four separate FBOs made a one-day tomato value chain in-country visit to Tip Top Foods Ltd in Anloga in the Volta Region of Ghana. The visit, an activity under the Australian Government’s Australia Africa Partnership Facility supported FBO Capacity Building Project, had the objective of exposing the tomato farmers to some best practices in tomato production. This includes activities undertaken from production to processing under the agricultural value chain concept.
The event was facilitated by Officers from the FBO Secretariat at the Directorate of Agricultural Extension Services, Regional and District MoFA Officers and with immense cooperation and support from the CEO and owner of Tip Top Foods Ltd in Anloga, Mr. Sena Ahiabor. Following the visit, the farmers expressed optimism and accepted the challenge thrown to them by Messrs Sena Ahiabor and Kwesi Abaka-Quansah of the FBO Secretariat to begin to see their farming activities as a business.
